Barbary macaques in Morocco

The AAP Foundation has asked Faunawatch to conduct an independent and expert study in order to identify the strengths and development areas of their Born to be Wild project. Born to be Wild is an initiative of the AAP Foundation (‘aap’ is Dutch for monkey), in cooperation with the IFAW (International Fund for Animal Welfare). The goal of this project is to protect Barbary macaques against poaching, illegal trade, conflicts between people and animals, the consequences of illegal deforestation, etc.

For several weeks, Tim and Gaston joined the rangers on their daily patrols and talked to their team leaders. They also spoke to tourists, who view Barbary macaques as an attraction. Every day, Tim and Gaston made a report, took pictures and made videos on how the project functions and ultimately, they handed in the final report.

You can check out the videos below to find out more about the project (they are partly in English and in Dutch).
